Emerald has Colombian origins, as it was mined over 20 years ago from the famous Muzo mines in the western Boyaca province of the Colombian Andes mountains. Center stone is mounted in 18k gold and platinum ring setting.

Colombian Emeralds are said to be the purest and most sought after Emeralds in the world because Colombian Emerald deposits are the only ones on earth found in sedimentary host rock rather than in Igneous rock. The tectonic plate movements that formed the Andes mountains force the raw materials of Emeralds; beryllium, chromium, and vanadium, to seep into the cracks of the mountain ridges. These mixtures eventually cool and crystalize to form the Emeralds we see today.
